Kazakhstan’s State Counselor Erlan Karin led a delegation consisting of representatives of think tanks and media agencies to Beijing, China, Kazinform News Agency cites Akorda.

As part of the visit, Karin held meetings with chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Huning and head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Li Shulei.

During the meetings, the interlocutors introduced each other to the main areas of work in social-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, discussed the reforms underway as well as planned to hold joint events ahead of the 2nd Central Asia-China Summit in Kazakhstan.

Karin also met with President of the Chinese Academy of Social Studies Gao Xiang and delivered a welcome speech at the first Kazakhstan and China Think Tank Forum, during which a memorandum of mutual understanding was signed between the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies (KazISS) and Chinese Academy of Social Studies (CASS). A working session, aiming at further developing cooperation between think tanks of both countries, took place as well.

The Kazakhstani delegation also familiarized with the work of China Media Group as well as held discussions on media cooperation and implementation of joint projects.

Under the visit, the Kazakhstani State Counselor delivered a lecture for the teaching staff and students of the People’s University of China, focusing on the reforms underway under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Following the meetings, Karin thanked his Chinese colleagues for the events, highlighting that thanks to the leaders of both countries the Kazakh-Chinese relationship has risen to a level of eternal all-round strategic partnership.
